The new judges of the Constitutional Court have been sworn in before the Parliament

Mr. Igor Dolea and Mr. Tudor Panțîru have been sworn in during a brief ceremony in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova as judges of the Constitutional Court, following their appointment by the Superior Council of Magistracy. 

 

 

 

The composition of the CC has undergone modifications as a result of the expiry of the mandates in February 2013 of the four judges out of six. In line with the Law on the Constitutional Court, the Courtwillsit in its full composition following the appointment of two other judges by the Parliament. The Court is now functional, there being ensured the quorum made up of four judges:

1.      Alexandru Tănase - President;

2.      Igor Dolea - Judge;

3.      Tudor Panțîru - Judge;

4.      Petru Railean - Judge.

 

The two new judges have got a prodigious experience in local and international judicial field. The Judge Igor Dolea has an impressive background in non-governmental and academic environment, as well as in public field as a member of the Superior Council Magistracy. The Judge Tudor Panțîru has been a deputy in the first Parliament of Moldova, has represented the country atthe UN and at the ECHR and has been in office as the International Judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the Republic of Moldova, the composition of the CC is made up of six judges appointed by the following institutions (for a 6 years renewable mandate): the Parliament, the Superior Council of Magistracy and the Government.
