Association of Constitutional Courts using the French language (ACCPUF)

Association of Constitutional Courts using the French language (hereinafter - ACCPUF) consists of constitutional courts and similar institutions of the francophone countries. ACCPUF has been founded in 1997 and is composed of 45 members - constitutional courts of Africa, Europe, America, and Asia. The Constitutional Court of Moldova became a member with full rights of the ACCPUF in the year it has been founded - 1997. The goal of the Association is to contribute to fostering the rule of law by developing relationships between its members.

In 1998, as a member with full rights, the Constitutional Court of Moldova attended the Conference of heads of francophone institutions, in Beirut (Lebanon), aiming at upgrading the francophone informational potential on constitutional justice, undertaking an exchange of information between francophone constitutional courts and launching a francophone website of constitutional caselaw.

On March 1999, enjoying the financial support of the ACCPUF, the Constitutional Court carried out in Chișinău a regional seminar, with participants from the Constitutional Council of France, Venice Commission and from Constitutional Courts of Romania, Slovenia and the Republic of Moldova.

In 2001, a representative of the Court attended a training of national correspondents of the Association, in Alexandria, Egypt.

On June 2002, a judge of the Court attended the second training of national correspondents, in Paris.

In 2005 a representative of the Court took part at the 5th seminar of national correspondents, in Paris.

In November 2006 the delegation of the Court participated at the 4th ACCPUF Congress, which took place in Paris.

In 2007, in Paris there was carried out the 6th training of national correspondents, the Court also being represented by a judge.

The 6th ACCPUF Congress was hosted by the Constitutional Council of Morocco, in July 2012. The Congress was launched under the heading "The citizen and constitutional justice."

Honouring the invitation of the Supreme Court of Canada, on April 2014, the Presidents and representatives of 27 member courts had a reunion in Ottawa within the 7th Conference of Heads of ACCPUF institutions. The delegates discussed the issue of "Relations between constitutional courts and media."

The Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland carried out in Lausanne, on June 2015, the 7th ACCPUF Congress, with more than 30 constitutional courts and councils, represented by over 100 participants. The event was focused on "the supremacy of the Constitution".

On the occasion of ACCPUF meeting of the General Assembly, the presidency was transferred to the President of the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland for the year of 2015-2018.

On September 2016, the Constitutional Court of Moldova will host the 8th ACCPUF Congress of heads of ACCPUF institutions.
