The visit of the President of the Venice Commission at the Constitutional Court

On 23 May 2024, the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova, Ms Domnica Manole, together with her fellow constitutional judges, received the official visit of the President of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), Ms Claire Bazy-Malaurie, accompanied by Mr Vahe Demirtshyan, legal adviser at the Venice Commission. 

Having in mind the long-standing bilateral cooperation between the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova and the Venice Commission, the discussions focused on topics related to the Venice Commission’s activities and opinions, as well as the effective implementation of their considerations in the judgments of the Constitutional Court. 

Ms Domnica Manole appreciated the receptivity and the openness of the Venice Commission, emphasizing the importance and the value of its opinions and observations for the Republic of Moldova, as well as the need to remedy the deficiencies identified by the Venice Commission. 

This is the first official visit of Ms Claire Bazy-Malaurie as President of the Venice Commission to the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova.
